Calendar in Tasks

Hi there

Nice website, and so far everything looks promising.

Just tried to add a task to my first trail. Clicked on the calendar, then on a date. Not immediately obvious how to close the calendar once it's popped up.

Probably just me with my grasshopper attention span...

Ah, found it - have to click on the little calendar symbol. Could be more obvious, perhaps? Or, even better, might close automatically when one has clicked on a date?

The reason it doesn't close automatically is that the calendar actually allows you to choose ranges of dates (click and drag), and sets of dates (Apple-click and drag). You can combine multiple ranges (over multiple months if you like) to filter the trail to show just items whose date falls within those dates.

Your point certainly raises a couple of issues:

* People don't realise they can select several dates or date ranges

* It isn't clear how to close the calendar when you first use it

Both of these are things we should probably look at again, I've had other users report the same problems in the past. Perhaps something as simple as a close box on the calendar would help?

Thanks for another helpful comment!

Ben

Yes, I think a Close box would work just fine. It's cool that one can choose ranges etc - this goes far beyond the usual functionality of these little calendars, thus I suppose most users would not suspect it's possible.

Perhaps a little window with a note re calendar selection features could pop up next to the calendar when it is opened, with a 'Don't show this tip again' tickbox or similar.
